From Rotaractor to Director Rotary International
Muhammad Faiz Kidwai, Chairman of CG Global Pvt Ltd, a leading architecture, engineering, real estate development and hospitality conglomerate, will during 2022-24 serve as the first Rotary International Director from Pakistan.
His professional and business efforts consistently reflects his social entrepreneurship skills.
An architect by profession, Faiz Kidwai graduated from the prestigious NED University of Engineering & Technology Karachi and represented Pakistan at MIT and Harvard’s AKU program for Islamic Architecture. He was a team member which experienced onsite conservation and preservation studies of various cities in former Yugoslavia (now Bosnia-Herzegovinia, Croatia and Serbia).
He is a leading architect and urban development expert of Pakistan having significantly contributed in numerous projects in Baluchistan. He led consultancy on behalf of Government of Balochistan for the preparation of Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan. Since 1992 he has been involved in Sangar Housing Project, Gwadar which is a unique housing projects in Pakistan and is known for its scintillating location and state of art digitized documentation; making it most creditable public sector project of Pakistan. His significant contribution towards the betterment of city of Karachi includes Rehabilitation of Jahangir Park, Empress Market and its surroundings alongwith a number of interventions related to urban regeneration.
Faiz joined rotary world through Rotaract Club of Karachi in 1979-80 and became member, Rotary club of Karachi East in 1987. He subsequently became the charter member of Rotary Club of Karachi Karsaz, Rotary International district 3271 Pakistan. He remained Governor for Rotary District 3270 (Pakistan and Afghanistan) in 2005-6.
He served at numerous positions and initiated scoreless service projects at club, district and international level of Rotary. These include but are not limited to:
- Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator Rotary International Zone 6 B for years 2011 till 14.
- Founder and chairman, Rotary Pakistan Literacy Mission and is pioneering the Total Literacy and Quality Education Program all over Pakistan. Besides partnering with Government schools he has also introduced the concept of mobile library and education unit. He managed to receive more than 700,000 books from USA and UK supporting as well as establishing more than 2000 libraries all over Pakistan.
- He has special Focus on girl child education and women empowerment.
- Founder of a model and sustainable Rotary village known as Rotary Jo Goth for 160 flood affected families in THATTA near Karachi. The village has changed the life of 160 families.
